Today's appointments

Well I went to the plastic surgeon this morning for my first round of injections for "the girls." They added 60 cc's to each side so we are growing nicely. The amount they put in ranges from 30-60 ccs and it depends on your pain tolerance and how much extra skin you have. So I asked him how much he was planning to put in and he said well let's make sure there is enough skin...I just started laughing and said oh honey there is plenty of skin! I mean I was a size E before my mastectomy and am thinking a nice little C will be perfect, but we will see. Andy said I should get H's so I won't fit through doors. The top part of my boobs look like an 18 year olds and the bottom part looks like an 80 year olds so we have plenty of skin to fill them on up and then they will remove the excess when they do my reconstruction. Onto the oncologist...Hilary took me to the oncologist today around 11:15. They told me to allow about 4 hours for my first appointment so I was VERY excited as you can imagine. Everything went surprisingly quickly considering how many people I met with. There was a little unpleasant surprise though. The lymph node with suspicious cells was in fact malignant and was about 1 cm, but it was contained. This moved my cancer up from stage 1 to stage 2. The prognosis still being good though. They went over my treatments and they will begin July 10th and I will have 6 of them every three weeks. This means I will finish in mid October. They went over the side effects, yada yada yada. Basically, we will have to wait and see how it all affects me. They also wanted me to consider being a part of a clinical trial in which there are two "arms." One arm is the traditional TAC and the other just TC. I am waiting to talk my friend Amy (the doc at Johns Hopkins) to see what she thinks. I am leaning toward the traditional since he said with stages 1,2,3 they do not veer off course. Anyway, mark your calendars for Saturday, July 19th since this will be the date of my head shaving party (invitation to follow.) I will have a CT scan, a bone scan and an ECHO sometime between now and then to make sure the rest of my body is clear. So, we have a game plan and now are just praying those tests come back clear. We can still go to the beach. I can still play with my kids, go to church, movies (yeah right - I have seen 4 since Tennasyn was born at the theater,) and live a normal life during all of this. They said I will just be very tired (like I am not already!!) Anyway, we are trotting along and feeling better every day. Thanks for the prayers as always and please continue!

How about a "movie night" soon... I'll rent some movies that you might have missed since Tennasyn was born :) and bring in dinner? I know y'all are heading to the beach soon, but maybe the week after that? Think about it and let me know a night that would be good for you. Big hugs!
